South Carolina Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper) and South Carolina Electric & Gas (SCE&G) parent SCANA have suspended construction on two nuclear reactors at South Carolina’s V.C. Summer Nuclear Station. Santee Cooper owns 45 percent of the project and SCE&G owns 55 percent. The reactors have cost the utilities approximately $9 billion and remain less than 40 percent built.
